Jaques Is Playing Tricks With 2% School Board Tax Bill While McGuiness and Schwartzkopf Conspire Against Charter School Audit Bill

Earl Jaques is abusing his position as Chair of the House Education Committee while Speaker of the House Pete Schwartzkopf sits back and lets it all go down.  But Schwartzkopf will protect his buddy Kathy McGuiness at any cost.

Delaware 105.9 Reporter Rob Petree Sworn In As Kathy McGuiness’ Executive Assistant

I wasn’t expecting this!  Rob Petree, a now former reporter for Delaware 105.9, is the new Executive Assistant for Delaware State Auditor Kathy McGuiness.  I find this to be a very interesting choice on McGuiness’ part.  I am not against this choice either.

Petree is a good guy and, as a reporter for 105.9, he wasn’t afraid to go after folks and get the real story.  We need more of that in Delaware and I’ll miss Petree’s reporting.  I have no doubt he will do a great job with McGuiness.  That office has been very quiet and I’m curious to see what comes out of it in the coming months and years.  But hiring a reporter as your Executive Assistant lends credibility to her campaign promise to bring more transparency to that office.

Kathy McGuiness Sworn-In As State Auditor Today

At the Old State House in Dover today, Kathy McGuiness was sworn-in as the first female Delaware State Auditor.  With a packed room, many other Delaware public officials attended the ceremony along with McGuiness’ family and friends.

Other legislators and public officials in attendance were Speaker of the House Pete Schwartzkopf, soon-to-be sworn in State Senator Trey Paradee, Lieutent Governor Bethany Hall-Long, new State Representative Kendra Johnson, and new State Senator Darius Brown.

Former Delaware Governor Jack Markell gave opening remarks.

After that, McGuiness was officially sworn in by retired Superior Court Judge Susan Del Pesco.

McGuiness gave her own remarks for about six minutes but unfortunately the file was too big to download from my phone.  She did say she would work hard for the office and her strongest expectation was to herself.  She vowed to do right by the people of Delaware.

After the ceremony, McGuiness graciously walked around the room and thanked every single person for attending.  Including myself.  I shook her hand and said “Congratulations, fresh start.”  She said thank you.

It was odd seeing Jack Markell again.  I can’t remember the last time I saw him.  Jack did not say hello to me but I wasn’t exactly in a position where he could so there is that.

Democrats Seething As Tom Wagner Appoints James Spadola As His Deputy, And I Don’t Blame Them One Bit!

James Spadola, you should have said no.  Today, Delaware State Auditor Tom Wagner appointed James Spadola, who is the Republican candidate for State Auditor, to be his Deputy in the Auditor of Accounts Office.  Spadola faces Democrat candidate Kathy McGuiness in the November 6th election.

Big Mouth AOA Leaker John Fluharty Continues To Run His Big Mouth

John Fluharty.  He who suffers from that unique Delaware ailment called sitting in a job and getting paid on the taxpayer dime and doing nothing.  For someone who pretends to be a Republican, he sure does like to get involved in Democrat power games.

The Delaware DOE: The Support, Enforce, or Ignore Test

Delaware Secretary of Education Dr. Susan Bunting, under the policies of Delaware Governor John Carney, has transformed the Delaware Department of Education into a support organization.  Before Bunting, Carney recognized the DOE as an enforcement organization during former Governor Jack Markell’s two terms.  Carney put it on Bunting to make that transformation.  Did she succeed?

Auditor Of Accounts Office Releases Very Questionable Report To News Journal’s Jessica Bies In Attempt To Interfere With Election & MERB Hearings

Jessica Bies with the News Journal wrote an article about State Auditor candidate Kathleen Davies and willfully withheld information provided to her that would have drastically changed her article.  There is absolutely no credible reason for Bies to withhold crucial information like that.
