After waiting an extra ten days to put up the audio of their June board meeting, the future of the Delaware Academy of Public Safety & Security is once again in doubt. Immediately into their board meeting, Margie Lopez-Waite resigned as President of their board and was than voted into the new Head of School position.
That didn’t take long. According to First State Update, Las Americas Aspiras Academy will close school on Thursday due to the Super Bowl parade for the Philadelphia Eagles. Rumors began circulating in the fall that Las Americas ASPIRA Academy would be submitting a major modification request to add high school grades. What I didn’t count on were the huge amount of fallacies and grandiose boasting within the application itself.
I was really torn on who would get the coveted Exceptional Delaware Hero of the Year Award for 2018. There were so many great choices. I covered some of them in the Movers and Shakers posts I put up. But in the end, the choice was obvious!
2018 was a year of heroes and zeroes! Shakers and movers! The list here includes some well-known Delawareans and ones that came out of nowhere to shock us all. One isn’t even a person. Another is from out-of-state. One is anonymous. But they ALL made an impact in 2018!
