House Bill 50 To Be Heard In House Education Committee Today…. Say What?

The Delaware General Assembly returns today!  It was supposed to happen yesterday, but the impending doom of the snowstorm that didn’t quite live up to its potential postponed the return.  Today is Committee day!  House Bill 50 WILL be heard in the House Education Committee today.  Say what?  Didn’t former Governor Jack Markell veto that bill?

Gotcha!  This is a new House Bill 50.  How ironic that State Rep. Earl Jaques is the sponsor of a House Bill 50 given what happened the last time we had a House Bill 50 in Delaware.  The NEW opt-out bill, House Bill 60, was filed in January but it is NOT on the agenda for the House Education Committee.  Time to get that action going again!  There are some interesting bills being heard in the education committees today!

I am a proud parent of a son with Tourette's Syndrome and several other co-morbidities. I write on this blog to educate other parents so they know a bit more about not only special education, but all the really bad things that are happening with public schools in Delaware and the USA. We are all in this together, and if our children aren't able to advocate for themselves it's up to us parents! We need to stop letting companies run our schools, and demand our children get a proper education. Our Departments of Education in our states have become weak with fear from the bullying US DOE, and we need to take back our schools!
