Kline Statement on New Education Department Guidance

WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Education and the Workforce Committee Chairman John Kline (R-MN) today issued the following statement in response to new Title IX guidance from the Departments of Education and Justice:

These are deeply personal issues that should be discussed and decided openly, where all Americans have an opportunity to express their views and have their voices heard. Unfortunately, once again, the administration is suppressing an important national discussion that belongs to the people. This latest edict disregards the will and concerns of millions of students, parents, teachers, school administrators, and religious leaders. The secretary has the audacity to say this will promote an environment free of fear and discrimination, but what about the students, parents, and families who don’t share the president’s personal views? Let’s be clear about what this is: another unilateral decree imposed on our nation’s schools, colleges, and universities by a lawless administration. The secretary has no business—and certainly no legal authority—denying low-income students the financial support they deserve because their school or institution doesn’t bend to the president’s personal agenda.

So what was the issue surrounding this?  A letter went out today from the United States Department of Justice Civil Rights Division and the US DOE: Dear Colleague Letter 5/13/16

What is your take?  Agree?  Disagree?

  1. One’s take depends on ones feelings towards diversity. If one feels that all people must be like you, or not be included in the category you call: people, then Kline’s feigned outrage has a point. If you scrape all junk aside, that IS the underlying oozing sore.

For example, if you said there could be no mention of Christmas in any of our public schools, the exact same people outraged over allowing trans-gendering, would be outraged over that… (Rightfully so, I will add, because like trans-gendering, the birth of Christ WAS a “real” thing.) “You are persecuting us because we’re different” would be their motif. But in a Sikh or Muslim community, an edit imposing restrictions on Christians would make extremely good political sense there locally….which like it or not, exactly mirrors North Carolina’s imposed hardship leveled against the trans-gendered.

So the real issue is not “whatever” excuse gets thrown into the sentence. AS you are well aware, it could even be tourette’s syndrome… The real issue is whether we allow these differences which other people think are life-important to them, to co-exist in OUR world, or…. do we shut the doors so only people who think like us, are allowed in….

Unfortunately which way we think, is determined by our genes. If not taught prejudice, we can sometimes change our behavioral tendencies to see this better with open eyes. But if taught to be prejudiced from an early age, there is no way those people will ever accept anyone who is not exactly like them, as a fellow human being…..

Bottom line. If this is the direction we want to go, then John King is right. If this it NOT the direction we want to go, then Donald Trump (though proxy John Kline) is right….

This is something that will not be decided on on brilliant argument or philosophical principle. Equality and civil rights have to be forced. It will be decided by numbers for, or against… Voting in this upcoming election is absolutely critical in determining the future direction (as a society either open or closed), our nation will pursue….

  2. Ok… I just read the letter. It is obvious now, that John Kline did not read it before protesting. Some dork handed it to him and he saw potential to mine false outrage.

It is just a letter defining trans-gendering and helpful measures collected around the country on different ways to handle it…

It is no different in principle than an attorney telling you: “you know, if you get caught driving under a revoked license, it will be very costly to you. Here are some ways you can function without forcing yourself into that position..

    1. Take a bus.
    2. Have friend’s number in wallet.
    3. Date only people who can drive…
    4. …..
