Yesterday, a charter school set to open in the fall had an open house. A citizen of Delaware went to check it out, and talked with a special education director. She asked the director if she was familiar with the laws that will come out of Senate Bill 33, the IEP Task Force legislation that Governor Markell is signing in a couple days. The special ed director said yes, and she was on the task force. The citizen was very shocked, and explained to the director that she was not on the task force because she was and had never seen the director at any of the meetings. The director insisted and told the citizen she must not have gone to all of the meetings. She informed her she went to every single one. Then the director asked her what she was doing there and got very snooty.
When I heard this I laughed hysterically. Really? Do they think we are that stupid?

Name it Kevin, please. I have several students attending new charters for high school next year. And we are watching a few closely as we contemplate our daughters ninth grade year to come all to soon. Every piece of data and get goes into a file that we,ll use to evaluate our choices. Thx

So if I’m not mistaken, our southernmost county has exactly 1 charter school, with a truly dismal record of retaining and adequately serving special needs students.

Honestly, this is awful, extremely offensive, and discredits your opinions. Did you really just relate a military school to Hitler? Did you really think that was a good idea?

While I don’t agree with Kavips analogy, and we all know he tends to exaggerate his comments, I would seriously hope this school is taking a hard look at the comments their own special ed director made and flat-out lied to not only a member of the public, but also a well-known advocate for students with disabilities in Kent County.

That is old knowledge, especially on the internet. And only little people should ever take it into consideration… because the opposite is still true. If you act like Hitler, comparing one to him is quite appropriate, no matter what mis-educated fools out there may think…. correct? If an accurate description… (WHICH OBVIOUSLY IT IS) again… it makes no difference … Period… If you truly want to make a point based on credibility…. try real hard to prove how it is NOT like Hitler? (which you can’t, as Kevin so aptly describes, so you try instead to demean the messenger by making it appear they are not sophisticated enough to be aware of Godwin’s law and Hitler fallacies… lol. ) Now THAT, is funny.
