Petition Up For Delaware State Rep. Earl Jaques To Step Down From House Education Committee

DE State Rep. Earl Jaques

That was fast!  Not even 24 hours after Rep. Earl Jaques very offensive remarks, a citizen of Delaware has started an iPetition to have Jaques step down as Chair of the House Education Committee in Delaware and publicly apologize for his derogatory remarks.

In case anyone has not seen these public comments, it was this:

“To me, opt out is admitting failure,” said Jaques. “[It’s] saying, oh, I can’t measure up. I’m not good enough to be able to take this test. I can’t pass that test. That’s not the American way.”

  1. Having him step down would be too easy. I want him to sit in classrooms while kids are taking the assessments. I want him to sit with teachers and listen to them while they talk about assessments and data entry and what it’s been doing to their classrooms, morale and students. I want him to sit in a room full of parents and educators, take and ask questions and hear what our teachers, parents and students think.

Let’s get a petition for that going.

Quitting is the worst thing he could do right now.

  2. Your comments calling my special needs son a FAILURE because we as parents in our son’s best interests are opting him out of horrible useless test , are completely un accepable! You need to step down and make room for someone who will not insult parents and students in Delaware!

  3. Someone somewhere compared taking the test to putting your children in a line to be assassinated by a firing squad. Failing to take your child out, would be a dereliction of parental duty…

But wait… isn’t what Jacques said, EXACTLY how a child predator cultivates his victim….

“[oh, so you are saying you can’t measure up. So you’re not grown up enough to be able to do what every grown-up does every day. So you are saying you can’t { }. C’mon. That’s not the American way.”

All predators should be put in jail… That includes the educational ones.
