Here we go. Another Delaware school district following the path of least resistance by adhering to a faulty and illegal Delaware Department of Education “template” for parent opt out of the Smarter Balanced Assessment. There is nothing in the ESEA that says a parent can’t opt their child out either. Keep hanging yourselves. Which district got caught with their hands in the “illegal response to parent opt out letter” jar this time?
Delaware School Districts: Read The Law Correctly, Stop With Your Illegal Letters To Parents

I am a proud parent of a son with Tourette's Syndrome and several other co-morbidities. I write on this blog to educate other parents so they know a bit more about not only special education, but all the really bad things that are happening with public schools in Delaware and the USA. We are all in this together, and if our children aren't able to advocate for themselves it's up to us parents! We need to stop letting companies run our schools, and demand our children get a proper education. Our Departments of Education in our states have become weak with fear from the bullying US DOE, and we need to take back our schools! View all posts by Kevin Ohlandt
Just respond with affirmation that you received the message and still intend for your child to not take the test. Tell everyone that! The districts have to follow this procedure. Treat it as a formality and keep on keeping on!!!

Why do these districts keep trying to shove this test down peoples’ throats??? My daughter is thinking about opting her two kids out. They go to a charter school. I am curious as to how they will respond. Of course, she has to opt them out for me to find out.

I have not heard from any charter parent opting their child out so I would LOVE to see what happens!

So somehow I just “liked” my own comment… Mustn’t be hasty!
I do not believe there has been a response yet. However, I have counseled the parent to accept any response and reply that they appreciate the information but their child will not be taking the test! I’ll keep you posted!!!
