A Delaware citizen forwarded me this information. They wished to remain anonymous. What they received from the US Department of Education was very perplexing.
If this is to be believed, there was no communication between the US Department of Education and DE Secretary of Education Mark Murphy or Governor Markell between January 1st, 2014 and December 23rd, 2014. Not even one. Hmmm…
Kevin, when I opened the doc I could see the name of the Delawarean to whom it was sent (just highlighted black, with white text). Can that be changed?

Thanks for the heads up! I will get it fixed. The letter will return momentarily.

This letter just means that any such communication was not directed by US DOE to Jack Markell or Mark Murphy. Which other DDOE staff could have received such communications–Penny Schwinn?
And on the other hand, if our DOE IS acting on its own without federal pressure, why in heaven’s name are they putting Wilm. public schools through this? If the conclusion we can reach is that all this nonsense was hatched in Dover, that’s even more reason to stop it–in response to DE citizen outcry (750 sig. petition against the DOE’s “priority schools” approach, etc.).

I agree Eve. To not have any federal input over something the DOE is saying comes from the dictates of the feds is VERY strange.

Very good point Eve!

The net was not cast wide enough on this FOIA. It should have been broad enough to capture any DDOE or Governor’s office staff emails to USDOE.
