Capital School District Resolution For Parent Opt-Out Passes

The Board of Education for the Capital School District passed a resolution at their meeting tonight to allow parents to opt their children out of standardized testing.  This is a major victory, not just for Capital, but the entire state.  This is the shot heard round the world for education in this state.  This is a district saying no to the DOE.  This is a district saying parents have a choice in their child’s education.  I wish I was there for it, but I am still very happy!  I will update this as I get more information!

Just heard, it was a unanimous vote with all three of the attending board members.  Two were missing, but I have a strong feeling it still would have passed had the other two been there.  At the very least, a 4-1 vote.  Awesome!

I am a proud parent of a son with Tourette's Syndrome and several other co-morbidities. I write on this blog to educate other parents so they know a bit more about not only special education, but all the really bad things that are happening with public schools in Delaware and the USA. We are all in this together, and if our children aren't able to advocate for themselves it's up to us parents! We need to stop letting companies run our schools, and demand our children get a proper education. Our Departments of Education in our states have become weak with fear from the bullying US DOE, and we need to take back our schools!

    1. I wrote an article yesterday called The Heroes of Delaware which is a transcript of the words they said during that portion of their board meeting on October 15th. Feel free to use that!
