It’s been a crazy first month. Thanks again to all my readers. You have made this little experiment a grand success. This blog has gone beyond what my expectations were. With that, I have some teasers for the future.
I will continue to write about the Delaware DOE and their special education department. I feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface with them, and it seems like there are wheels within wheels turning everything there. Who really runs the show there?
Charter school debate has been going on for years. But now that their grand master has revealed she wants to expand in our state, I’ve only just begun to delve into that dog and pony show. What is their purpose, and what do they want to accomplish? I have some theories I will be exploring at great length.
The links section has taught me a lot. This is an ongoing project of love for me, and it will be expanded on. Thank you to those who have sent me links. If there are any interesting links out there, please send them to me. The best parents are well informed parents.
I plan on having many more interviews. With schools, advocates, special education people, and maybe a politician or two. But what I really want are parent interviews. That is in the pipeline as well. And maybe, just maybe, I may have someone coming up who is an agent of change in our country. Curious?
The disability history has been very eye-opening. The 19th century is up next, and everything changes during this era. One name, who didn’t have much to do with psychology, but changed the landscape for special needs children, will be spotlighted at great length.
The schools in Delaware are my primary concern. What happens at each school with special education? What are they doing and what should some of them be doing? Parents will want to know this information.
These are just teasers, and like any preview, I can’t give away everything! Social media will change things in our state, and those in power should be prepared for this. For those who don’t read blogs, you may want to keep your eyes open and understand the new landscape. Elections are coming up, and candidates stand on issues will make or break them at the voting booth.
Thank you again everyone. Whether you love or hate this blog, you’ve come here for a reason. And my goal is to keep you coming back. I do this for no one else but our state’s exceptional children. They are the reason my heart aches and I want to help make changes for them, for the better.
